Sunday Service SheBeat Style

This weekend I had the pleasure of speaking with two music loving gals in the United States, for It Matters Radio and this song Believe came up as a matter of course when discussing my songwriting... I try not to take life too seriously if I'm allowed, but if I had a message to the world via my songs it would be that kindness and positivity can make a difference in your life... Certainly has helped me along in my lifetime!

You can tune in for the interview today at 3pm EST (which I understand to be 8pm on the UK clock) then it will be available as a YouTube watch which I promise to share the link for when I have it ^-^ HERE IS THE LINK LOVERS

Happy Sundaying ya'll xo

Supermoon Lover

Every year we have a #supermoon, this year apparently the biggest and best for many moons!

This is my related seasonal song...

Plans afoot to record this proper, a friend in Stoke helped me make this 'played live' version a few years ago, time for a revamp since it remains one of my favourites...

Rainbows and happy times

On my new EP is a recording of my song Rainproof...

It was written as a cheerer-upper for when life is being a bore, but like our fav gal Dolly P always says, you'll never catch a rainbow without first sitting thru a bit of rain!

The clocks went back this last week, and as the autumn turns to winter, our perspective gets little greyer along with the weather, so a good time to share a little SheBeat philosophy don't you agree?

"Stick together, whatever comes our way"

This Soundcloud version of the song was recorded on my iPhone, not bad all considering, after all, we're being our best glass half full today ;)

For the new #properjob recording, head to the usual download places for a listen... And remember! Turn that frown upside down my friend!

^_^

Heard the new stuff yet?

Thanks you if you took the time to have a listen to my new EP Feels Like which was released last week ^_^

Really enjoyed playing some of the tracks live at Vanilla in Truro and then again at Beerdfest in Liverpool to celebrate the release in the big bad world... There are still a few limited edition homemade 5 track CDs to grab which includes an inclusive track Until Now!  But if you're more of a digital music lover - we're over on Spotify for streaming, there's the download at iTunes and Amazon etc and there's a free download of track Hairy Boy Blues on Soundcloud.com/shebeat, this track features on the CD but isn't on the download or streaming... with me so far? ;)

More exciting news is that tonight BBC Introducing Cornwall will feature the title track Feels Like on their show - so thrilled to be played on the radio and thank goodness for the BBC Introducing show cos its nearly impossible to get on the radio otherwise if you're an unsigned nobody like me!

Will be out and about playing to new folks in Cornwall and further afield before Christmas, will post news of gigs as they come in... thanks again for your ongoing love and support... I love ya!

New stuff feels like...

New stuff from your fav liverbirdy SheBeat coming real soon...

Hang on to your hats & in a few weeks you can own the new EP on digital (3tracks) or CD (5tracks) with live shows in the diary to celebrate ^_^

Feels Like is the second EP I've created thus far in this SheBeat World, I recorded them with the lovely James Mellor down on Lark Lane at Motor Museum Studios earlier this year...
I wanted to bring you a sofa session vibe so there's very little jiggery pokery - what you hear is what you get when, hopefully the finished product feels like I'm sat in your living room playing my wares directly... Speaking of which, in the now grand tradition of SofarSounds, I'd love the play some intimate gigs for you and yours so get in touch if you want this geetar gal to come out and play!
The EP will be officially released Aug 31, 2016 but you can hear a snippet of my title track on this Insta clip  And another of the tracks on my soundcloud page

Thanks so much to BBC Introducing for my recent plays - support from new music radio of all shapes and sizes is amazing ^_^ I got a PRS report saying someone was playing some SheBeat in Spain - Olé!

Watch this space for news of live performances coming this autumn to Cornwall, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and London...

What's new pussycat?

What's new with you?

I had me some studio time!!! Had much fun with James at Motor Museum a couple of weeks ago to record my second EP which I'm releasing in September*.

I have posted a sampler for you on Soundcloud of track Hairy Boy Blues, which you can listen to #now !!! Other tracks recorded were Yours Sincerely, Feels Like, Until Now & Rainproof. By the end of the sessions my fingers were well and truly spent & I was quite exhausted! I gave you my all ^_^

I am playing Threshold Festival this weekend (Apr2) which finds me also hosting an intimate stage at The Gallery on Stanhope St. Our acoustic afternoon will feature lovely-on-the-ear efforts from local singer-songwriters including, new kid on the block, Sam Cooke. Music 4-6ish. Don't miss out! Here's an interview preview of the festival I did for The Guide Liverpool.

You can also catch up on my latest BayTV Arts Alive: Acoustic session on youtube, I'm the second act in the programme and you'll exclusively hear my new track Yours Sincerely in the set...

Stay tuned for word of my EP party in June and I'll be posting more gig dates in Liverpool and further afield as they come in, I must say 2016 has been brilliant so far, thanks so much for all your support!

*This was going to be June but some life stuff has got in the way so I'll be back to share in the autumn ^_^

Making the cut

Getting ready for a day at Motor Museum Studios is exciting and difficult! Exciting because it's so much fun to make music and make it with talented producers! Difficult because I like lots of my songs but there isn't time (budget) to record and publish them all, so which four songs fit together nicely, feel like the best sound for my second EP?

The long list looks like this:
Hairy Boy Blues - a bluesy number written back when I started this song writing thing in 2012

Don't Make Me Stay - a bluesy story about a love triangle that never was, also written in 2012

Won't Be The Same - a gentle folky love song written in the summer of 2013

Rainproof - a favourite, bluesy ditty that I wrote in the winter of 2014

Until Now - bluesy again, and written beginning of 2015

Feels Like - a jazzy love song I wrote in the summer of 2015

Yours Sincerely - written in late 2015, this is an open letter style bit of song writing about being sincere in a cynical world. Inspired by a diary entry of Marilyn Monroe, published in a book called Fragments(which I came across while reading my favourite blog). I felt her angst about feeling misunderstood is one of life's common themes, and lots of folks can probably relate to the sentiment... it got a great review from Liverpool Sound and Vision when I performed it live for the first time for Be Lovely Day. In fact I am likely going to make this the title song for the EP...

Will whittle this list to four or five tracks for recording day - the idea is to record something very intimate, like I'm sat in your living room playing you my songs... Really looking forward to sharing it with you! Will have a little launch party in June, will let you know in due course where to be and when...

I'm busy booking some gigs in - will publish a list early next month - if you know of a local folk club/ festival you'd like to see me perform at let me know... I have plans to play my first Scotland and Ireland gigs this year, and there is whiff of a French spot in the summer too - ooh la la!

In the meantime catch me on on Bay TV Liverpool (Freeview channel 8) March 3rd with my second Arts Alive: Acoustic session featuring some of my new songs! I'll share the link when its live... One to watch ;)

Recording times

Plans to record a new EP are under way!

I have made a long list of the songs I will be recording this Spring with James at Motor Museum Studios and it's exciting to be making the selection... I will keep you posted regards progress and will share the EP making process with you step by step SheBeat style ^_^

One of the songs I will be recording is my latest written track Yours Sincerely, which I performed this weekend at Brink Liverpool for my Be Lovely Day showcase - Ian D Hall at Liverpool Sound and Vision liked it almost as much as I do judging by this review where he said 'a song of depth and fortune, is a track in which you will remember where you were when you hear it for the first time,' and it's the current fave to be my title track on my new EP...

Being lovely

In 2012 I came up with a little idea called Be Lovely Day. Just a little effort to hopefully go a long way toward cheering up friends, family and colleagues in the bleak mid-winter. Inspired by Flower Thrower by Bansky, I wanted to remind all of us how important simple pleasures are in this one life we're all busy living.

Four years later it is more than I could ever have hoped for and more! All around the world, lovely human beings will join forces on Saturday 23rd January and make the world a nicer place. Just because they can. Paying it forward I am giving away a free SheBeat track via Soundcloud - Believe is very much in the same vibe as Be Lovely and was written to cheer myself up, so I do hope you enjoy it too!

I'm also hosting and performing on the day at Brink Liverpool alongside a few musical friends from 2pm so do come along if you happen to be in the area - but being lovely can happen in your own time wherever you happen to be so let me know if you have any stories to share as a result of lovely efforts...

So whether you bake a cake for a relative, make an awesome mixtape for a friend or just pay some compliments to your neighbours: Lovely humans, I salute you!
